There is Always A way Out:You Have Power to Overcome Evil

Looking at the content of today’s media outlets, we can see that the world is accustomed to a steady diet of evil, hate, and violence. The message of the day is usually negative, whether it comes from television, newspapers, or movies. If we’re not careful, we can become fearful, and fall under the misconception that we’re helpless against evil. But when we pick up our Bible and begin reading it deeply, the message that God gives us power over evil jumps off the page at us.

The Bible is also called the Good News. God promises us that when we accept Him, His power will overcome evil in all forms. “Little children (believers, dear ones), you are of God and you belong to Him and have [already] overcome them [the agents of the antichrist]; because He who is in you is greater than he (Satan) who is in the world [of sinful mankind]” (1 John 4:4, AMP).  This is good news—despite what we see and hear, God will not let evil overcome us.
There is Always A way Out:You Have Power to Overcome Evil
The world depicts Christians as weak and ineffectual, and many accept that philosophy because they don’t know any better. But when we’re born again and welcome Jesus into our lives, our own strength isn’t an issue anymore. “It is God who arms me with strength, and makes my way perfect” (Psalm 18:32, NKJV). During His earthly ministry, Jesus repeatedly demonstrated that the strength and power to cast out demons came from God. When we accept Him, we have that same power.
In the New Testament, Jesus sent out a group of people to make a definitive statement about whether good or evil was stronger. He gave them the same power and authority that He had, and the results were amazing. “And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you”(Luke 10:17-19). This is no small thing!
Evil presents itself in many forms, but when we believe the promises God makes in the Bible, none of it can touch us. Not only is it rendered powerless when it attacks us, but He gives us the necessary spiritual weapons to go on the offense against it. “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good” (Romans 12:21, NKJV). The philosophy from the world is that maybe the forces of good aren’t strong enough to prevail. God’s answer to that suggestion is found in the resurrection of Jesus, Who is God in human form, after He died on the cross.
The next time we find ourselves worrying about evil reaching out its ugly hand to claim us, we can rest easy in what God’s Word says. “’No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me,’” says the Lord” (Isaiah 54:17, NKJV). God Himself pledges to keep us safe, no matter what happens around us. Accepting and internalizing this promise will give us a peace that goes beyond understanding.
