Why Replace The Truth By Your Traditions
Why Replace The Truth By Your Traditions |
The 21 First Century Church has taken the steps of the Religious Leaders of Jesus’ day the Pharisees, Sanhedrin and the Elders. Which desired to follow after the Traditions of the Elders more than it could follow after Moses. The Church has loved Traditions of the Elders"Church Father" and rejected Christ and His Word.
Tradition like any other source of learning and study is majorly dependent on information that’s oral or in some cases written documents that is passed down from one generation to the other. Tradition does not have to be orthodox to be qualified to be passed down from one generation to the other. It has to be a statement of faith, a belief and a legend or a myth that the Elders believed and have qualified to be part of their beliefs, customs and part of their being.
It is against this background that we discovered that Tradition can be classified into various categories
1. Theological Tradition
Theology is the study of the Divine, this kind of information as believed by the Fathers of Theology has been passed through the generations with only the authority of the Theologians as the reference and proof of authenticity. It is theology passed down by way of Elders agreement in thought and practice. The same applies to the following traditions
2. Philosophical Tradition
3. Political Traditions
4. Religious Traditions
This is better known as the Traditions of the Elders, according to the biblical narratives Matthew 15:2 . The religious leaders of Jesus’ day argued citing authority of the Elders the so called the "Religious Father", the one who laid rules and traditions that would govern the religiosity of the movement or practices.
Thus Tradition of the Elders can be any Custom, practices, ceremonies, extra biblical teachings and doctrines that are laid to govern the Church or religiosity of an movement.
In my recent blog http://tonderaigoncalo.blogspot.com/2016/01/tradition-sucks-all-divinity.html I highlighted that tradition sucks the power of God’s word. In this presentation I want you to see how tradition does suck the power of the word.

Moses came with the Law, it is understood that the Law could not save anyone, but so is the Traditions of the "Elders or Church Fathers."
The church is curious to formulate doctrines, traditions, and practices that gives them an identity as a church and movement. In these doctrines, traditions and practices there is no power to transform. Howbeit that we equate our standard with God’s.

This is why there is no real and complete salvation in the church. What changes an Individual is an encounter with the Word of truth, which is the personification of Jesus Christ. By following after Traditions the church replaces the place and power of God with human teachings, traditions and practices, rendering the word of God powerless.
Traditions of the Elders will also give birth to ceremonies, thus the moment we follow and place tradition as the authority we have to follow a certain way of doing things, as they did in the past so shall we imitate in our day.
The Religious Leaders accused the disciples of Jesus of breaking the Tradition of the Elders by not following fully the ceremonies of cleansing. This tradition had nothing it offered to the salvation of Israel, how ironic it is that in our Time we have Religious leader accusing each other of not following traditions that has nothing to do with Salvation!

They wanted everyone who was in Judaism to follow their Elders’ Traditions so as to be pious and complete in the religion. Yes according to the Traditions one would be appear righteous but at the same time lacks the reality of this truth and was so far away from the Kingdom of God.
What Tradition governs your church, do you feel secure after the ceremonies? But do you have a relationship with God the Father?
Ceremonial practices that we see in the church should never replace the truth of God and refocus the faith of a believer. With ceremonial practices there is no need of Faith, one has to do an act that’s defined in the traditions of the Church and hope that all is well. The object of Faith must be God and His Christ, His word and not experience nor Tradition.
Why is the Church violating and trespassing the will and word of God for the sake of her rules, customs, practices and traditions which were handed to you by her "fathers." By following traditions of the church we nullify the word of God and we become hypocrites.
Tradition can also hand good things to us, a legacy of righteousness, and right knowledge of the word and relationship with God. We can learn from our Fore Fathers, the ones who first walked this path. On the other hand we need to take heed that we are following the Word of God and practicing the will of God
In conclusion see to it that no one carries you off as spoil or makes you yourselves captive by his so-called philosophy and intellectualism and vain deceit (idle fancies and plain nonsense), following human tradition (men's ideas of the material rather than the spiritual world), just crude notions following the rudimentary and elemental teachings of the universe and disregarding [the teachings of] Christ (the Messiah). Col 2:8
